HC Deb 25 March 1873 vol 215 c99
MR. SALT

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department, Whether, since it has often been found necessary to introduce Bills similar to a recent Act entitled the Tiverton and Cove Chapels Act, in order to give validity to marriages that may be technically irregular, he will introduce a general Bill for the improvement of the Marriage Law?

MR. BRUCE,

in reply, said, he must acknowledge the inconvenience of passing a series of Acts to correct irregularities, but he could not undertake on the part of the Government to deal during the present Session with so large and important a Question.
