VISCOUNT ENFIELD

I am happy Sir, to inform my hon. Friend and the House that two hours ago a telegram was received from Mr. Vivian, at Alexandria, dated this day, one o'clock. It is as follows:— Telegram just received from Sir Samuel Baker, dated Khartoum, yesterday, reports his safe arrival there in good health, with all the other Europeans. The country as far as the Equator annexed to Egyptian dominion; all rebellions, intrigues, and slave trade completely put down; country orderly; Government perfectly organized; and road open as far as Zanzibar; El Zaraf navigable. Victory on June 8, with only 105 men, over army of Onioso. This mission completely successful.
