HC Deb 18 February 1873 vol 214 c596
LORD GEORGE HAMILTON

asked the Secretary of State for War, Whether, under an Act of last Session, he has not the power to purchase all Militia Storehouses required by the Crown, and whether at the present moment certain, Storehouses, utilized by the Crown, in the county of Middlesex, are not maintained by the Ratepayers; and, if so, when will he relieve the Ratepayers from this burden which Parliament at his suggestion has decided ought no longer to be imposed upon them?

MR. CARDWELL

The Act in question passed at the close of the Session, and no time has been lost in making the local inquiries necessary for carrying it into effect. As soon as possible the several buildings will in each case be either purchased by the Crown or placed at the disposal of the county.
