HC Deb 07 March 1872 vol 209 cc1528-9
MR. R. SHAW

asked the Vice President of the Council, Whether any date has been fixed beyond which Grants in aid for the building of new or the enlargement of existing Denominational Schools will not be made under the provisions of "The Elementary Education Act, 1870?"

MR. W. E. FORSTER

, in reply, said, his hon. Friend was doubtless aware that no application was to be made after the end of 1870; but as yet the Government had not thought it fair to fix any time after which grants would not be made in consideration of these applications. A great deal of time was necessarily expended in considering applications and the correspondence following upon them.
