HC Deb 05 March 1872 vol 209 cc1392-3
MR. CARNEGIE

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department, considering the pledge given by the Government last Session on the subject of an inquiry into the Game Laws, he will undertake, on behalf of the Government, the nomination of the Committee ordered by the House to be appointed on the subject?

MR. BRUCE

said, in reply, that up to the debate on the Bill of the hon. Member for Bury St. Edmunds (Mr. Hardcastle), he had expected that the House would concur in referring the Bills on the subject to a Select Committee, instead of having a Committee on the general subject. The House, however, having preferred the latter course, he should be happy, on the part of the Government, to undertake the nomination of the Committee.
