HC Deb 19 July 1872 vol 212 c1413
SIR DAVID WEDDERBURN

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department, Whether his attention has been directed to the Report of the Shetland Truck Commission; and, whether he will undertake to insert next Session in the proposed Truck Bill such additional Clauses as will render that Bill applicable to the case of Shetland?

MR. BRUCE

replied that he had received the Report of the Commissioners on Truck in Shetland, which disclosed a state of things which he was bound to say was not met by the Bill which the Government had introduced. Whether the evils therein exposed, and which were very considerable, could be remedied by legislative interference he did not know; but the subject would receive the attentive consideration of the Government during the Recess.
