HC Deb 08 July 1872 vol 212 c797
COLONEL C. LINDSAY

asked the Secretary of State for War, Whether Oxford was to be a depôt centre, instead of High Wycombe?

MR. CARDWELL

Sir, General MacDougall informs me that if the Committee shall decide upon recommending Oxford as the depôt centre for the district, it will be with a view of establishing it in the neighbourhood, and not within the city, and that local inquiry will be made to ascertain where a suitable site could be obtained at a moderate cost.
