HC Deb 08 July 1872 vol 212 cc795-6
MR. SYNAN

, for the O'CONOR DON, asked the Chief Secretary for Ireland, Whether the Government intend to take any steps to carry out the recommendation of the Committee on Public Accounts, that the Consolidated Fund be relieved from the annual charge of £21,000 for the maintenance of the Queen's Colleges in Ireland, and that the whole of their requirements be made the subject of estimate?

THE MARQUESS OF HARTINGTON

said, the Government had formed no intention of transferring the charge of £21,000 for the Queen's Colleges in Ireland from the Consolidated Fund to the Estimates. The Estimates would, he believed, be taken with the ordinary Education Vote, but he could not say on what day.
