§ VISCOUNT ENFIELDsaid, that Mr. Matthew, our representative at Brazil, on his return to Rio, took with him instructions to bring to an amicable settlement the mutual claims between this country and Brazil. He returned in the month of April last, and the Government had not yet heard what steps he had taken in the matter.
