§ SIR CHARLES WINGFIELDasked the Under Secretary of State for India, Whether any decision has been come to by the Secretary of State on the subject of two Laws recently passed by the Council of the Governor General; one for introducing the Metric System of Weights in India, the other called a Canal and Irrigation Act, in which provision is made for levying a special rate from the owners of land accessible to irrigation from a canal, although they may not use the canal waters?
MR. GRANT DUFFreplied that both the Acts referred to were still under the consideration of the Secretary of State in Council.
