HC Deb 15 February 1872 vol 209 cc469-70
MR. DENISON

asked the First Commissioner of Works, Whether the Embankment has been definitely fixed on for the return route of Her Majesty; and, if so, what steps have been taken to protect life and property upon the occasion?

MR. AYRTON

I regret that I am not able to give an answer, because this subject properly belongs to the Secretary of State for the Home Department; and if he were here—as he is not—he would not be able to answer the Question immediately, for it is necessary in these matters to communicate both with the Lord Chamberlain as regards Her Majesty, and with the Chief Commissioner of Police with respect to any arrangements that may be made for the safety of the public.

MR. GLADSTONE

No definite decision has been yet come to as to the return route.
