§ LORD JOHN MANNERSasked the Under Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Whether at the expiration of the Commercial Treaty with France in March next, it will be within the power of this country to impose a Duty on the export of coal to France; or whether, under the operation of the most favoured nation clause, no Duty on the export of coal to France can be imposed until the expiration of the Commercial Treaty with Germany in 1877?
§ VISCOUNT ENFIELDSir, when the Treaty expires, it will be within the power of Her Majesty's Government to impose a duty on the export of coal to France, as the operation of the most favoured nation clause in the said Treaty will then cease.
