HC Deb 15 May 1871 vol 206 c803
MR. STAPLETON

asked the Lord Advocate, Whether, considering the failure of the Bill for the abolition of Hypothec, he will take measures to assimilate the Scotch Law to the English Law on the subject of distress for rent, in conformity with the views expressed by his predecessor in office?

THE LORD ADVOCATE

said, in reply, that, looking to the state of Public Business, he did not think it probable the Government would have an opportunity of dealing with the Law of Hypothec in the present Session, and he could not therefore promise to take measures to assimilate the Scotch and English laws on the subject of distress for rent.
