HC Deb 12 May 1871 vol 206 c715
MR. CADOGAN

asked the President of the Poor Law Board, Whether his attention has been called to an inquest held at Swindon, on the 11th of April, on the body of a woman named Jane Hale, and to the evidence upon which the jury found that she had died of starvation; and, whether he proposes to institute any inquiry, as the woman appears to have been under treatment by order of the guardians?

MR. STANSFELD

said, he had instituted an inquiry into the cause of the death of the woman Jane Hale, upon whom an inquest had been held at Swindon. He had received the report of the Inspector with regard to the matter; but he had not yet had an opportunity of reading it.
