§ MR. MAGUIREasked the Chief Secretary for Ireland, Whether the Clothworkers' Company of London, which holds an estate in the County Londonderry, has agreed to sell that estate without giving the tenants an opportunity of 888 purchasing their farms under the "Landlord and Tenant (Ireland) Act, 1870;" and, whether, in the event of the sale being made, Her Majesty's Government intend to see to the application of the purchase money?
THE MARQUESS OF HARTINGTON, in reply, said, he had no information as to the agreement in question. In the event of the sale being held, it would, he believed, be held under the ordinary conditions. He was not aware that Her Majesty's Government, as a Government, had any power to interfere with the application of the purchase money.
