HC Deb 30 March 1871 vol 205 c888
MR. DUDLEY FORTESCUE

asked Mr. Chancellor of the Exchequer, Whether, considering the deterioration from wear of a large proportion of the silver coin in Ireland, any arrangements have been made, or are in contemplation, for the exchange of worn silver coin by the Bank of Ireland, in the same manner as is done by the Bank of England?

THE CHANCELLOR OF THE EXCHEQUER

Yes, Sir; we have been for some time in communication with the Bank, and I have no doubt that arrangements will be made in the direction indicated.
