HC Deb 23 March 1871 vol 205 c457
MR. JAMES

asked Mr. Attorney General, Whether, in the event of the Elections (Parliamentary and Municipal) Bill becoming Law, the Government is prepared, at the earliest opportunity, to introduce a measure for the purpose of consolidating and amending the Corrupt Practices Acts now existing only by virtue of a continuance Act?

THE ATTORNEY GENERAL

replied that Her Majesty's Government would be prepared to deal with the subject if the Elections (Parliamentary and Municipal) Bill should pass; but they did not see much hope of being able to do so this Session.
