HC Deb 07 March 1871 vol 204 c1502
MR. BAILLIE COCHRANE

asked the Under Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, What are the contingencies alluded to in Despatch No. 47 in the Correspondence of the Treaty of March 1856, where Baron Brunow says— On certain occasions when certain contingencies were discussed, he had stated both to Lord Malmesbury and Lord Clarendon that if they were realized Russia would reserve to herself the right to call in question some of the provisions of the Treaty of 1856; and, if there are documents in the office bearing on these contingencies; and, if so, whether they will be laid upon the Table before Friday?

VISCOUNT ENFIELD

, in reply, said: I have to state that I am not aware, nor is the Foreign Office aware, of any of the "contingencies" to which the hon. Member refers; nor were there any Reports or documents on the subject in the Foreign Office.
