TORRENSasked the First Lord of the Treasury, Whether it is the intention of the Government to bring in a Bill this Session to carry into effect the recommendation of the Select Committee of 1869, that provision should be made by Act of Parliament for conferring on the House of Commons the power of examining witnesses on oath?
MR. GLADSTONE, in reply, said, it was the intention of the Government to introduce, in the course of the present Session, a Bill founded upon the Report of the Committee referred to by the hon. Member.
