§ COLONEL BARTTELOTsaid, he understood the Prime Minister to say last night that the debate on the Motion of the hon. Member for Finsbury (Mr. W. M. Torrens) would be resumed on Tuesday night, provided the whole of the Estimates were finished by that time. He now appealed to the right hon. Gentleman, whether it would not be more convenient for him to fix a day when it would come on?
MR. GLADSTONEsaid, he was perfectly willing to fix a day as soon as he could see his way to the end of the Committee of Supply. He thought it would be better to resume the debate when Committee of Supply was finished, when those who wished to address the House on the subject could do so. He might possibly take part in it; but he thought it would be better not to fix a particular day.
