BRANDasked the Secretary of State for War, Whether it is the intention of the Government, in making future appointments of Field Officers of Artillery as Inspectors of the Reserve Forces, to select these officers from the late Indian list (now Royal) as well as from the old Royal list; and, if not, why not?
§ MR. CARDWELLSir, selections for the Reserve Forces are made on the recommendation of the Field-Marshal Commanding-in-Chief and the Inspector General of Reserve Forces jointly. The first list has been submitted to me, and I have approved it. It consists of British officers only; but there is no exclusion of officers of the old Indian Service if they shall be recommended for appointment.
