HC Deb 18 March 1870 vol 200 cc201-2
MR. STOPFORD

said, he would beg to ask the Secretary of State for War, Whether he has determined to discontinue the training of detached troops of Yeomanry; and, if so, when they are to be disbanded?

MR. CARDWELL

Sir, if the detached troops can join their county regiments without causing an excess of establishment, they may do so; if not, they may become mounted Rifles. In this case they will cease to be borne on the Yeomanry Vote at once, and no allowance for their training will be issued this year.
