HC Deb 16 March 1870 vol 200 c61

Order for Second Reading read.

THE LORD ADVOCATE

asked the hon. and learned Member for Wick to allow the debate to be adjourned, as the Government were about themselves to bring in a Bill dealing with the same subject.

MR. LOCH

said, he had no objection to accede to the request of his right hon. and learned Friend; but he must ask when his learned Friend thought he should be able to lay the Bill relative to the Game Laws on the table, whether it would extend to England as well as Scotland, and whether he would himself bring it in, or whether it would be brought in by the Home Secretary?

MR. KINNAIRD

hoped, as there seemed to be some misunderstanding on the subject in the North, there would be no delay in the introduction of the Bill.

THE LORD ADVOCATE

could only say that he hoped he should be in a position to lay the Bill relating to the Game Laws (Scotland) on the table before Easter. As to whether the Bill would extend to England, he must refer his hon. and learned Friend to the observations made by his right hon. Friend the Home Secretary at an earlier period of the day.

Second Reading deferred till Wednesday 30th March.

House adjourned at ten minutes before Six o'clock.
