HC Deb 15 March 1870 vol 199 c1962
COLONEL BRISE

said, he would beg to ask the Secretary of State for War, Upon what principle of selection it is intended to distribute the 25,000 Snider Rifles to the different Militia Regiments, as adverted to in his Speech upon introduction of the Army Estimates; and whether they will all be issued before the annual training?

MR. CARDWELL

replied, that the rifles would be ready in time to be served to the various regiments before they went out for training, and that they would be issued in the first place to the regiments that had served in the Mediterranean; secondly, to those which had been twice, and, thirdly, to those which had been once, embodied.
