HC Deb 03 March 1870 vol 199 c1142
COLONEL STUART KNOX

said, he wished to ask Mr. Attorney General, What will be the fees of Counsel upon each of the several indictments for Bribery preferred by the Government in the towns of Norwich, Beverley, and Bridgwater; and from what funds they are provided?

THE ATTORNEY GENERAL

said, in reply, that He was unable to give the hon. and gallant Member the information He desired. The Solicitor to the Treasury fixed the fees in such cases, and He had no doubt that in the instances referred to by the hon. and gallant Gentleman counsel's fees were the usual and proper ones; but what their amount was He had not the slightest idea. They came out of the same fund as that from which all Government expenses were paid.
