said, he would beg to ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, Whether he is aware that prisoners who have been found lunatic are detained for some weeks in solitary confinement before being sent to the Lunatic Asylum?

MR. BRUCE

, in reply, said, he was not aware that such was the case; but if the hon. Member knew of an instance and would communicate the facts to the Home Office inquiries would be made into the matter. He would add that it is to the interest of visiting justices to report such cases to the Home Office.
