MUNTZsaid, he would beg to ask the Secretary of State for War, What resolution Her Majesty's Government have come to with respect to the Capitation Grant to the Volunteers for the current year; whether the present distinction as to efficient and extra efficient is to be preserved; and, whether the promised bonus of an additional grant of 10s. per man will be allowed or not, and to which of the two classes it is to be paid? He acknowledged that the matter had been to some extent explained since he put the Question on the Notice Paper.
CAPTAIN VIVIAN, in reply, said, the old distinction between efficients and extra efficients was to be preserved: the grant to efficients would be 20s., and that to extra efficients 30s.; and there would be an additional grant, not of 10s., but of 5s., which would be given under regulations that would be framed after consultation with commanding officers, but which would not affect the Estimates for the present year.
