VANCEsaid, he would beg to ask the Secretary of State for War, Whether it is true that the General who is to succeed Lord Straithnairn as Commanding in Chief in Ireland is to be sent there with reduced pay and allowances to those usually given to officers; commanding in chief in that country; and, whether, if so, he is supposed or expected to continue to keep up that state and position which has hitherto 249 been maintained by his predecessors as becoming the head of Her Majesty's Forces in Ireland, and who from time to time is usually nominated one of the Lords Justices of that Kingdom?
