STEPHEN CAVEsaid, he wished to ask the Secretary to the Board of Trade, Whether he has observed, in the Report of the recent meeting of the Gas Managers' Association, allusions to some important and unexpected results of experiments instituted by the Gas Referees, and whether those results will be made public; and, whether the Board of Trade contemplate the early extension to the whole Metropolis of the principle of the Gas Acts of 1868–9?
MR. SHAW LEFEYREsaid, in reply, that he was inclined to think that the importance of the results alluded to in the first part of the Question of the right hon. Gentleman was rather overrated. The Report, however, should be laid before the House. Although it was exceedingly advisable that there should be uniform gas legislation for the metropolis, he was unable to pledge the Government to bring in a Bill on the subject.
