HC Deb 28 February 1870 vol 199 c881
SIR STAFFORD NORTHCOTE

said, he wished to ask the Under Secretary of State for India, Whether there is any probability of his making any statement with respect to the Finances of India before Easter; and, if not, whether he will have any objection to lay upon the Table the Correspondence which has taken place on the subject of the recent revision of last year's Budget?

MR. GRANT DUFF

In reply, Sir, to my right hon. Friend, I have to say that I do not intend to make any statement with respect to the finances of India before Easter; indeed, we do not expect even to receive Sir Richard Temple's statement this year till about the cud of April. There will be no objection whatever to laying on the Table the correspondence which has occurred with respect to the recent revision of last roar's Budget.

SIR STAFFORD NORTHCOTE

Am I to understand that the financial statement will be later this year than usual?

MR. GRANT DUFF

Yes; somewhat later.
