§ MR. STACPOOLEsaid, he would beg to ask the First Lord of the Treasury, If it be his intention to introduce this Session a Bill to repeal or alter the Ecclesiastical Titles Act?
MR. GLADSTONE,in reply, said, it was the intention of the Government to propose to Parliament, in the course of the Session, a measure on the Ecclesiastical Titles Act, and to propose it with 171 a view and with the hope, if possible, of passing it into law during the present Session. But in the actual state of Business, and with the mass of measures announced in the Queen's Speech, he could not feel at all confident that it would be in their power to introduce it before Easter. There would be no use in introducing the Bill until they approached the time when they would have a probable chance of carrying it forward.
