§ THE CHANCELLOR OF THE EXCHEQUERsaid, in reply, that to give the cost of the Crimean War would be an analysis of the Votes which he did not feel called upon to enter into. He might state in general terms the manner in which the money was raised. There was an increased funded and unfunded debt of £40,000,000, and the rest was raised by taxes during the time the war continued—about as much more—but that could be ascertained by the hon. Gentleman on reference to the Estimates. Altogether the cost was about £80,000,000.
