HC Deb 04 May 1869 vol 196 c101
MR. WELLS

said, he wished to ask the Secretary to the Treasury, When the Savings Banks Returns, moved for on the 1st March, will be laid upon the Table?

MR. AYRTON

said, in reply, that the Returns in question were not furnished by the Government, but by the savings banks themselves; and as there were 511 savings banks the hon. Member would see that it it took a considerable time to collect them. The Government had received Returns from about 400 banks.
