HC Deb 22 March 1869 vol 194 cc1897-8
MR. STEVENSON

said, he wished to ask Mr. Solicitor General, Whether he is willing to make provision in the University Tests Bill to extend the benefits of that measure to the University of Durham?

THE SOLICITOR GENERAL

replied, that as far as he was concerned, he did not propose to introduce clauses into the University Tests Bill to extend its provisions to the University of Durham. He confessed he was not acquainted with the precise constitution of the University of Durham. Of course he should not offer any obstacle to any hon. Gentleman proposing such clause or clauses if he thought fit to do so. Indeed, as far as he was concerned, he had not the smallest objection to the Bill being so extended.
