HC Deb 22 March 1869 vol 194 c1898
MR. KEOWN

said, he wished to ask the Chief Secretary for Ireland, If he can give any information as to the time when the Report of the Royal Commission to inquire into the system of National Education in Ireland is likely to be forthcoming?

MR. CHICHESTER FORTESCUE

said, in reply, that the Royal Commissioners were anxious that the Commission should be prolonged until March of next year, this extension of time being necessary, they considered, in order finally to wind up the proceedings of the Commission; but upon the application of the Government the Commissioners had signified their full expectation that they would be able to supply their Report before the end of the present year.
