HC Deb 25 June 1869 vol 197 c570
LORD ELCHO

said, he wished to ask the Vice President of the Committee of Council on Education, Why the brick and terra cotta buildings of the South Kensington Museum in Exhibition Road are not progressing; and if any ultimate saving will be effected by this stoppage of work?

MR. W. E. FORSTER

replied that it was true that these works had been stopped for the last three months; and the simple fact was that it was thought necessary, on account of the necessities of the Revenue, to reduce the Vote for building by £8,500 this year, and it had been determined to proceed at present only with what required immediate completion.
