HC Deb 03 June 1869 vol 196 c1207
MR. HERBERT

said, he wished to ask the Chief Secretary for Ireland, If it is the intention of the Government to institute a Commission to inquire into the circumstance connected with the recent collision between the people and the police at Ballyheigue, county of Kerry?

MR. CHICHESTER FORTESCUE

said, in reply, that the recent collision between the people and the police at Ballyheigue had been brought under the attention of the Government by the Lord Lieutenant of the county. A magisterial inquiry was proceeding, and until that was completed it would be premature to say whether the Government proposed to issue a Commission of Inquiry.
