HC Deb 27 July 1869 vol 198 c797
MR. KINNAIRD

said, he wished to ask the Under Secretary of State for India, If the Railway to Darjeeling has been recommended by the Government of India; and, if so, whether it is to be an extension of the East India Railway from Rajmahal, or of the Eastern Bengal Line of Railway from Kooshtea?

MR. GRANT DUFF

In reply, Sir, to my hon. Friend, I have to say that an extension of the Eastern Bengal Railway to Darjeeling has been recommended by the Government of India, and that the Secretary of State in Council has sanctioned a preliminary survey of that line from Kooshtea.
