HC Deb 22 April 1869 vol 195 c1362
MR. NEWDEGATE

said, he would beg to ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, Whether the Government consent to the production of the information which will be required by the Return with respect to Roman Catholic Charities, Notice for which stands on the Orders for this day?

MR. BRUCE

said, in reply, that he was sorry to say that it would be his duty to oppose the Motion of his hon. Friend that evening. He was informed by the Deputy Keeper of the Rolls at the Record Office that it would be impossible to prepare the Returns for which his hon. Friend asked in less than a twelvemonth, and then only by employing upon the task the services of officers who were required in another department.
