HC Deb 19 April 1869 vol 195 cc1095-6
DR. BALL

said, he wished to ask the Chief Secretary for Ireland, Whether the attention of Her Majesty's Government has been directed to the recommendations contained in the Report of the Irish Church Commissioners in favour of lessening the price of purchasing the perpetuity of Church leases; and, whether the subject was under the consideration of the Government with a view to legislation?

MR. CHICHESTER FORTESCUE

in reply, said, the attention of the Government had been directed to this subject; but its importance demanded careful consideration, and the right hon. and learned Member would doubtless agree with him that it should be dealt with as a separate measure, rather than form part of the Bill now before the House.

DR. BALL

said, he entirely concurred in the view of the right hon. Gentleman.
