§ MR. NEWDEGATEsaid, he wished to correct a misapprehension arising out of what he was supposed to have said last evening. He did not say, referring to a friend of his, a late Member of this House, Sir John Tyrrell, that a Romish Priest attempted "to convert a female member of his family by placing in her hands a book referred to in the work known as The Confessional Unmasked." What he had said was that the book was based upon the authorities whose doctrines the work called The Confessional Unmasked was intended to expose.
