§ MR. VANDERBYLsaid, he would beg to ask the Secretary of State for War, Whether a Notice which was given by his Department to terminate, as on the 1st of April last, the monopoly which has for many years existed, and still prevails, in the supply of Malt Liquors to the Troops at Shorncliffe Camp has been withdrawn; and whether it is intended to continue such monopoly?
§ SIR JOHN PAKINGTONsaid, in reply, that the Notice given to terminate the monopoly in the supply of Malt Liquors to the Troops at Shorncliffe had not been 302 withdrawn, and it was not intended that the monopoly should be continued. Negotiations were in progress for purchasing the rights of the person having the monopoly, but some little time would probably elapse before the question would be settled.
