§ SIR STAFFORD NORTHCOTESir, a communication has been received from Sir Robert Napier, strongly recommending that batta should be given to the troops. Her Majesty's Government, considering the great hardships the troops have undergone in the campaign, and the great losses they have suffered from wear and tear, have accordingly decided to grant the troops six months' batta.
