§ MR. CANDLISHsaid, he wished to ask the Under Secretary of State for the Colonies, Whether there has been any Correspondence between the Colonial Office and the Governor of Jamaica relative to the renewal of the Clergy Act, which expires next year; and, if so, whether he has any objection to lay the same before Parliament?
§ MR. ADDERLEYsaid, in reply, that a Memorial had been received from Jamaica objecting to the reduction proposed by the Government in the general religious endowments. No Correspondence had, however, been received. When Correspondence was received there would be no objection to place both it and the Memorial on the table of the House.
