HC Deb 20 February 1868 vol 190 c989
MR. EWART

said, he would beg to ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, Whether it is the intention of the Government to re-introduce the Murder Law Amendment Bill, introduced by them in the last Session of Parliament, or any similar Bill?

MR. GATHORNE HARDY

I am not, Sir, at present prepared to say whether I shall be able to introduce a Bill. The difficulties of the subject are very great, and each successive Bill that is introduced creates new difficulties. With respect to the latter part of the measure of last year relating to Infanticide, of the hon. Gentleman, I certainly think it would be desirable to introduce a similar Bill, but I cannot at present say positively.
