§ MR. NEWDEGATEsaid, he would beg to call the attention of Mr. Chancellor of the Exchequer to the List of the Gentlemen whom the hon. Member for Meath proposes to nominate on the Select Committee on the Ecclesiastical Titles Act, and he would beg to ask the right hon. Gentleman, Whether a Minister of the Crown or a Law Officer ought not to be placed on that Committee?
§ THE CHANCELLOR OF THE EXCHEQUER, in reply, said, his attention had been drawn to the constitution of this Committee. He regretted that the names had been placed on the Paper before he had been afforded an opportunity of approving the constitution of the Committee. He concurred with his hon. Friend that it was desirable to have a Minister of the Crown among the Members; and he had already taken some steps with that view.
