HC Deb 20 May 1867 vol 187 c769
MR. PIM

said, he wished to ask the Chief Secretary for Ireland, Whether it is the case that there is no provision for the Inspection of Weights and Measures in that portion of the Metropolitan Police District which is outside the limits of the jurisdiction of the Lord Mayor of Dublin; and, if so, whether it is his intention to provide any remedy?

LORD NAAS

Sir, the question to which the hon. Gentleman refers is one of some difficulty. It is not quite clear whether there is any jurisdiction with respect to weights and measures in the particular district to which his Question relates. I have recommended that a case shall be laid before the Law Officers of the Crown; and if it be found that no jurisdiction exists, we shall probably think it our duty to introduce a Bill on the subject.
