MR. CHILDERS

said, he wished to ask the Secretary to the Treasury, Whether any overtures have been made to the French Post Office, with a view to render the French Mail Service to India and China more available for the purposes of this Country, under the new system of postal communication, as recommended by the Committee of last Session?

MR. HUNT

replied that forms of tender had been sent out, and it was hoped that the Société Impériale might be induced to make an offer.

MR. CHILDERS

said, his Question was whether any communications had been made to the French Government on the subject?

MR. HUNT

said, the course which had been adopted was the only one which could be taken under the circumstances.
