HC Deb 08 July 1867 vol 188 c1192
MR. FINLAY

said, he would beg to ask the Secretary of State for India the amount of Guaranteed Capital, in addition to the sum already announced, which it is proposed to raise for Railway Works in India during the present year?

SIR STAFFORD NORTHCOTE

said, there would be no capital required, except what had already been mentioned in the Report on these railways, which had been presented to the House. He believed that the total amount which would be required to be raised in the year 1867–8 to meet current expenditure, pay off debt due to the Government, and leave a small balance in hand, would be between £8,000,000 and £9,000,000.
