HC Deb 01 July 1867 vol 188 cc768-9
MR. WALDEGRAVE-LESLIE

said, he would beg to ask the hon. Baronet the Member for Peebles-shire, Whether it is the intention of Her Majesty's Government to apply the provisions of the Act 29 & 30 Vict., c. 76, as regards the collection of Fees by Stamps, to the General Registry House in Edinburgh, or whether a special Clause empowering the collection of Fees by Stamps will be inserted in the Writs Registration (Scotland) Bill?

SIR GRAHAM MONTGOMERY

, in reply, said, there was no necessity to insert a Clause in the Bill, there being already full power to collect Fees by Stamps. Some correspondence was going on on the subject, the officials of the Register House in Edinburgh objecting to the proposed change, and it was under the consideration of the Secretary to the Treasury.
